(Adnkronos) – There would be over two million, including dead, wounded and missing, Russian and Ukrainian military casualties of the war launched on February 24, 2022, by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is the estimate of the American think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies (Csis), which highlights that the greatest losses are among the ranks of the Russian army. Indeed, between 400,000 and 450,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in the 1,590 days of war, the study center explains. In contrast, Ukrainian armed forces would have suffered between 125,000 and 150,000 losses, out of a total of 525,000-625,000 casualties in the same period, Csis stated.
“Russian losses in Ukraine are more than four times greater than all US losses in all wars combined since World War II,” it reads, noting that the ratio of Russian to Ukrainian casualties has likely risen to about eight to one in the first half of this year.
