Japan Announces Emergency Aid for Quake-Hit Venezuela

Tokyo, June 30 (Jiji Press)–Japan will send emergency relief supplies to Venezuela, recently struck by major earthquakes, in response to a request from the Venezuelan government, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said Tuesday. Japan will provide water containers, portable water purifiers and other items through the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Motegi also said at a press conference that JICA personnel are already in Venezuela to determine medical and reconstruction needs. Based on conditions in the disaster area, Tokyo will consider dispatching the Japan Disaster Relief Team and extending emergency grant aid. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
