(Adnkronos) – The Lebanese president, Joseph Aoun, rejected the “Israeli occupation” of southern Lebanon and all forms of foreign interference in the country, in an indirect reference to Iran, while the fifth round of talks between Israel and Lebanon has begun in Washington.
“We accept nothing less than the end of the Israeli occupation and, at the same time, the cessation of all foreign guardianship,” Aoun declared, according to a note released by his office. The president then expressed hope that the talks would lead “to the full restoration of Lebanon’s sovereignty over every single grain of its territory for the good of our Nation and our people.”
