(Adnkronos) – Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa clarified that Syria will not intervene in Lebanon against Hezbollah, despite the wish of US President Donald Trump who had asked Damascus to ”finish the job” started by Israel. The diplomatic, economic, and political path is the one to pursue to restore stability in the region, al-Sharaa declared. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam thanked the Syrian president for the position expressed during a telephone conversation with Damascus Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani.
According to a note from the Lebanese Prime Minister’s office, Salam praised what he called al-Sharaa’s “fraternal and frank attitude.”
