(Adnkronos) – Italy wants to accelerate “booming” exports to the United States and to reach 700 billion euros worth of global exports annually by end-2027, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said on Friday ahead of a Business Forum which he is chairing in Miami with his US counterpart Marco Rubio next week.

“On Monday, there will be a major Business Forum in Miami that I will co-chair with the US secretary of state. As you know, exports are booming in the United States as well (as in other markets),” Tajan said on the sidelines of an event at the foreign ministry to promote safe travel abroad.

“We are growing. We will work to strengthen the government’s action plan; the goal, as you know, is to reach 700 billion (euros in value) by the end of next year,” Tajani went on.

The value of Italy’s current annual exports are “very encouraging”, he said, noting: “we’ve reached nearly 650 billion.”

“Markets are growing tremendously,” the minister added. “We’re paying close attention to market diversification: certainly Europe and the US, but also other regions,” he said.

After his trip to the US, Tajani will visit Tunisia “to work with our companies there as well,” he said.

“We’ve already held business forums here in Rome in recent weeks with South Korea, Norway, and, before that, Kenya. We’re holding dozens and dozens of meetings to promote our companies,” Tajani underlined.

During the Miami Business Forum, Rubio will hold talks with Tajani “to advance US-Italy bilateral cooperation on economic security and critical minerals,” the US State Department said in statement.

“Leaders from US and Italian companies and financial institutions will also be in attendance to showcase opportunities for advancing shared investment and economic interests,” the statement added.
