Tokyo, June 10 (Jiji Press)–The Japanese government will extend a soft loan of up to 50 billion yen to Bangladesh to help the South Asian country address soaring energy prices, the Foreign Ministry has said. This is the first yen loan project under the Partnership on Wide Energy and Resources Resilience, or the POWERR Asia energy aid framework for Asian countries, announced by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in April. The loan will be provided through co-financing with the Asian Development Bank and will be used by Bangladesh to strengthen fiscal management, improve the investment environment and enhance a stable energy supply.
