(Adnkronos) – A student has been arrested by Manchester police on suspicion of stabbing three classmates. Greater Manchester police announced this, while local media report that the arrested child is only 12 years old and one of the victims is 11.

Police then explained that the Co-op Academy on Plant Hill Road in Blackley, where the attack occurred, was placed on lockdown. None of the injured are in serious condition, Sky News specifies. “At present, it is believed that there is no threat to pupils and school staff,” the police statement reads.

British media explain that, among the injured, there is an 11-year-old girl with a laceration on her upper shoulder who was taken to hospital and subsequently discharged. Investigations are still ongoing.
