(Adnkronos) – Italy and Poland want to work together on the main crises in Europe and the Middle East, including Ukraine, Iran and Lebanon and urge negotiations currently taking place to move foward resolutely without further warfare and towards peace, foreign minister Antonio Tajani and his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski agreed on Tuesday.
“I spoke with my Polish colleague Radoslaw Sikorski. Italy and Poland wish to work together on the major crises in Europe and the Middle East, Tajani wrote on X.
“We want to play a leading role and coordinate our efforts ever more effectively: regarding Iran and Lebanon, we call for the negotiations currently underway to proceed without hesitation and without further military action that would divert us from the true end goal: peace that is vital for the region and for Europe,” the post continued.
“On Ukraine, we jointly reiterate our request to Russia: to finally move on to a genuine negotiation phase. We will discuss this with our European Union partners at the Foreign Affairs Council on 15 June in Luxembourg,” the post concluded.
