(Adnkronos) – Italy’s premier Giorgio Meloni will meet South Korea’s president Lee Jae Myung at Villa Doria Pamphilj on 12 June for talks starting at 12.30, according to a calendar of events on the government’s website.
Strategic partner South Korea is Italy’s fourth-largest trading partner in Asia and, on a per-capita basis, Italy’s leading Asian export market.
Lee’s state visit to Rome follows a visit by Meloni to Seoul in January – the first by an Italian leader in 19 years. During her visit, Meloni and Lee agreed to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence, aerospace, chips and critical minerals and inked an MoU for chip industry cooperation, including on AI.
Meloni and Lee also pledged to intensify joint efforts to develop resilient, reliable critical mineral supply chains and reaffirmed their commitment to the Korean Peninsula’s denuclearisation.
