3 Giugno 2026

Tokyo, June 3 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi vowed on Wednesday to respond “appropriately” to the weakening yen “at any time if necessary.” Takaichi was speaking at a House of Councillors plenary meeting as the Japanese currency hit a one-month low beyond 160 per dollar amid concerns about the situation in the Middle East. The prime minister noted that Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had recently reaffirmed their cooperation in the currency market. “We’ll further advance international cooperation,” she said.
