Kyiv strikes St. Petersburg oil terminal as International Economic Forum begins

3 Giugno 2026

(Adnkronos) – The St. Petersburg oil terminal was hit this morning by a Ukrainian attack. The attack coincided with the start of the International Economic Forum taking place in the Russian city, an annual conference of business leaders and government officials hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Residents of St. Petersburg posted photos and videos of strong explosions and a large fire as the city was attacked by Ukrainian drones. The images show black smoke rising above the oil terminal located on the Gulf of Finland, near the city’s Great Port, one of Russia’s largest fuel storage and export facilities. It receives and ships oil products by river, rail, and road, and boasts an estimated handling volume of 12.5 million tons per year.

The governor of the Leningrad Oblast, Aleksandr Drozdenko, reported that 50 drones were shot down in the region this morning, but did not comment on the fires at the port, the extent of which has not yet been defined. Due to the attack, flights at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo airport experienced disruptions: almost 30 were delayed by more than two hours, and another nine were diverted to other airports, according to the Russian state news agency Tass.
