Israel approves over 2,100 housing units in 3 West Bank settlements

(Adnkronos) – Israeli authorities have given the green light for the construction of 2,162 housing units in three settlements in the West Bank. The Times of Israel reports that the expansion of the settlements was approved by the Higher Planning Council of the Civil Administration, a department of the Ministry of Defense. The largest expansion concerns Gvaot, in the Gush Etzion region of the West Bank, where 1,006 housing units will be built. 

The Higher Planning Committee also approved the construction of 922 housing units for the Har Bracha settlement, in the Samaria region, thus tripling the size of the settlement, which currently houses 3,500 residents. Finally, another 234 housing units were approved for Kiryat Arba, in the southern part of the West Bank, near Hebron.
