(Adnkronos) – “I cannot call elections for partisan interests.” Thus, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez ruled out resorting to early elections, emphasizing the importance of maintaining government stability to achieve progress. “I am not saying that the stability we have achieved in these last eight years with me at the helm of the government, in very difficult circumstances, with crises of extraordinary complexity, is an end in itself, but it is clearly an important tool to obtain the economic results we are registering,” he stated, speaking at the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See, after the meeting with Pope Leo XIV.
“Some colleagues explicitly ask me to anticipate the elections because they know that I would have a parliamentary majority in the government and in Congress, which would allow me to govern much more easily, and I understand that, but I cannot call elections for partisan interests, I must call elections for the general interest of the citizens,” he stated.
