France, Attal runs for the Élysée, ‘we are the country of the future’

22 Maggio 2026

(Adnkronos) – Former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has officially announced his candidacy for the 2027 presidential elections, promising that “the best is yet to come.” The 37-year-old Secretary General of Renaissance confirmed his candidacy in Mur-en-Barrez, Aveyron, during a debate. The goal is to make France “the country of the future,” Attal said in his speech, emphasizing his “ambition” to fulfill “the promise of progress.” Attal spoke of both “individual progress, so that everyone in France can say that their children and grandchildren will have a better life,” and “the promise of collective progress.”

Having become the youngest prime minister in French history in 2024, Attal declared, “I can no longer stand this type of French politics, which boils down to fifty different shades of decline management.” Attal stated that “the best is yet to come. A united, cohesive, peaceful country, a country like France, still has its most beautiful pages to write. We are the country of the future. We can have a better life, provided we give ourselves the means to do so.” And it is “because I deeply love France and the French people that I have decided to run for president of the Republic,” he reported.
