22 Maggio 2026

(Adnkronos) – Four of the approximately 40 Spanish activists participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla needed medical attention in a hospital in Istanbul after being detained by Israeli soldiers. This was stated by Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares from Helsingborg, Sweden, where he is for the NATO ministerial meeting. Their return to Spain has been postponed and will not happen before tomorrow precisely because of their condition, an organization supporting the initiative specified, as reported by El País.

Albares confirmed that the other citizens were assisted by the ambassador to Turkey, Cristina Latorre, and embassy staff, and will continue their journey to Spain “gradually, throughout the day.”
