Ukraine: at least 6 dead and 37 injured in Russian attacks in the last 24 hours

(Adnkronos) – Russian attacks in Ukraine have caused at least six deaths and 34 injuries in the last 24 hours, according to regional authorities reported in the early hours of today, as Russia continues its campaign against Ukrainian energy infrastructure with the third consecutive day of attacks on facilities managed by the state oil and gas company Naftogaz. According to the company, Russian drones struck several gas infrastructures in the Chernihiv Oblast this morning. Naftogaz reported damage to “critically important equipment” at the production sites. Personnel at one of the affected facilities were evacuated, and no casualties were reported. 

Russia launched 209 drones overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force stated on the morning of May 19, most of them long-range Shahed-type attack drones. Ukrainian air defense systems shot down or neutralized 180 of them, the Air Force added. The deadliest attacks were reported in eastern and southern Ukraine.
