(Adnkronos) – Strong foreign trade figures on Monday showing that Italy’s exports hit 162.1 billion euros in value in first quarter of the year – up 7% from the same period of 2025 – confirm the international competitiveness of Italy’s companies, foreign minister Antonio Tajani stated, pledging to bolster the country’s economic cooperation worldwide including with the United States.
“The latest Istat (central statistics agency) data on foreign trade confirm the strength of Italy’s exports and the competitiveness of Italian businesses on international markets, which are also the result of the strategy and economic missions of the foreign ministry,” Tajani wrote on X.
Italy’s exports reached 162.1 billion euros from January to March, a 7.4% increase from March last year, while trade with non-European Union countries rose 3.8% over the period, the post noted.
“We will further strengthen opportunities for economic cooperation with the rest of the world. The next two events are taking place in Cyprus at the end of May and in Miami in June, where we will organise a major trade, scientific, and technological forum dedicated to opportunities for further collaboration between Italy and the US,” the post concluded.
