(Adnkronos) – Italy’s commitment to ending the globally damaging 10-week-old United States-Israel war against Iran through “dialogue and peace” is inspired by the teachings of Pope Leo XIV, foreign minister Antonio Tajani told lawmakers on Wednesday.
“Italy’s commitment to dialogue and peace, which is also inspired by the teachings of Pope Leo XIV,” Tajani told the upper and lower house of parliament’s foreign affairs and defence commmittees in a hearing.
“His (Leo’s) tireless messages reminds us that building bridges, through dialogue and encounter is not merely a moral duty. It is the only path to lasting peace,” Tajani continued.
“When principles such as peace and freedom are at stake, Italy has never shirked its responsibilities. We will not do so this time either,” he vowed.
