(Adnkronos) – The Taliban-governed Afghanistan “rejects” the accusations made yesterday by Islamabad after Sunday’s suicide attack in which 15 police officers were killed in northwestern Pakistan. For the Taliban government, the “recent statements from Pakistani officials, who claimed the attack on the Bannu Police station was planned in Afghanistan,” are “unfounded,” reads the X account of spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid.

The Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. The message reiterates that “Afghanistan’s territory will not be used against other countries” and that “no one will be allowed to carry out activities that could pose a threat to security and stability in the region”.

Yesterday, Pakistan summoned the chargé d’affaires of the Taliban government in Islamabad. According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, “the attack was orchestrated by terrorists living in Afghanistan”.
