Italy, Bulgaria ties already ‘very solid’, countries want closer cooperation on competiveness, efficiency, migration

(Adnkronos) – Italy and Bulgaria want to strengthen their already “very solid” relations and to collaborate more closely at European level, especially in the areas of European Union competiveness, efficiency and managing migration, foreign minister Antonio Tajani wrote Monday on X after talks in Brussels with new Bulgarian foreign minister Velislava Petrova-Camova.

“Relations between Italy and #Bulgaria are already very solid, and at the European level we want to strengthen EU competitiveness and efficiency together, as well as responses to the challenge of migration,” read the post.

Besides the Balkans, Tajani and Petrova-Camova also mulled the situation in the crucial Strait of Hormuz oil and gas conduit, which remains largely closed to shipping amid the ten-week-old United States-Israel war against Iran.

“We want to continue working with the Bulgarian government on the connectivity infrastructure of Corridor VIII (pan-European road and rail route) and #IMEC( The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor sea and rail transport project) to boost export opportunities for our businesses,” Tajani concluded.

Tajani and Petrova-Camova were in Brussels for an EU Foreign Affairs meeting.
