Italy, US hope for ‘robust’ accord with Iran to ensure Mideast peace, stability

(Adnkronos) – In their talks in Rome on Friday with United States secretary of state Marco Rubio, Italy’s premier Giorgia Meloni and foreign minister Antonio Tajani underlined that a “robust” agreement is needed with Iran “to guarantee peace and stability”, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said in a TV interview due to be aired this evening. 

”We hope that an agreement can be reached between the US and Iran. Today, both the Prime Minister and I emphasised to Mr Rubio the need to reach a robust agreement that guarantees peace and stability,” Tajani told the ‘Five Minutes’ programme which follows public broadcaster Rai’s Tg1 news bulletin. 

“Diplomacy is the approach we have always favoured,” Tajani underlined.
