(Adnkronos) – There are “several robbers and hostages inside the bank” in Sinzig, a town in western Germany, halfway between Bonn and Koblenz, where the group of robbers barricaded themselves this morning. Local police announced this, specifying that among the hostages is the driver of an armored vehicle. According to Bild’s reconstruction, the armored vehicle was intercepted by the robbers in front of the bank this morning, around 9 local time, and the driver was threatened.
It is unclear how many robbers there are and what type of weapons they possess, but it is believed, Bild adds, that some of them, with at least one hostage, have barricaded themselves in the bank’s vault. The newspaper also published photos of special forces officers outside the bank building. A police spokesman told Der Spiegel that no details about the situation are being given for “tactical reasons” since the robbers inside the bank could read the news online.
