7 Maggio 2026

(Adnkronos) – Polls open in England, Scotland, and Wales for local elections, which represent the most challenging electoral test for British Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer, to the advantage of far-right and far-left populists. Starmer has never been under such pressure since his landslide victory in the general elections of July 2024, when he ended 14 years of Conservative government.

Millions of people are eligible to vote. In England, voters will choose approximately five thousand councillors in 136 local authorities, in addition to six mayors. Parliamentary elections will be held in Wales and Scotland.
