(Adnkronos) – Madrid is once again urging the “immediate” release of Saif Abukeshek, a Spanish citizen, who was detained last Thursday in international waters with the Global Sumud Flotilla heading towards the Gaza Strip. The Spanish consul in Tel Aviv visited the activist. Sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the consul was able to speak with Abukeshek and verify his health conditions, and reiterated that he will continue to visit him “regularly” and remain “in constant contact” with his family. For the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abukeshek was detained “illegally”. Madrid has again requested his “immediate” release. Yesterday, the Ashkelon court extended the detention of Abukeshek and Thiago de Ávila, a Brazilian citizen, until tomorrow.
