(Adnkronos) – There has been “no significant change” in the abandonment of large technology platforms such as TikTok and Instagram immediately after the ban on social media use by adolescents in Australia. This is demonstrated by government documents obtained by AFP. In December, Australia banned access to numerous popular social media platforms for children under 16, launching an unprecedented global measure aimed at protecting young people from online bullying and “predatory algorithms.”
Government documents obtained by AFP through freedom of information laws showed that platforms like Instagram and TikTok continued to “dominate app store charts and downloads” even a month after the ban.
