(Adnkronos) – At least five people were injured by the man who shot today in Athens at the headquarters of the National Social Security Fund and on the first floor of the Court of Appeal. The Greek broadcaster Skai reports, specifying that the man has fled. Police have released a photograph of the suspect and launched a large security operation to capture him.
Alexandros Varveris, head of the National Social Security Fund, stated that the armed man went to the fourth floor of the fund’s offices, in the Kerameikos district, in the center of Athens, and opened fire after ordering an employee to “get down”. “He entered, went up to the fourth floor, raised his rifle, told an employee to get down and hit another,” Varveris told Ert radio.
According to local media reports, the armed man allegedly threw envelopes containing documents on the ground after opening fire at the courthouse, stating that this was the reason for his action.
