Strong Quake Hits Hokkaido in Northern Japan

Tokyo, April 27 (Jiji Press)–A strong earthquake measuring up to upper 5, the fourth-highest level on the Japanese seismic intensity scale, rocked the Tokachi region in the northernmost Japan prefecture of Hokkaido on Monday morning. The earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.1 occurred around 5:24 a.m. at a depth of around 80 kilometers in the southern part of the Tokachi region, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
