North Korea, new agreement with Russia for long-term military cooperation between 2027-2031

(Adnkronos) – Russia and North Korea have agreed to make their military cooperation “stable and long-term”, with an understanding covering the period 2027-2031, as announced by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, after a meeting with his North Korean counterpart in Pyongyang, on the occasion of the ceremony for the inauguration of the memorial dedicated to the North Korean fallen in Kursk, elevated to a symbol of sacrifice and loyalty. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un took part in the ceremony, emphasizing that his government “will continue to fully support Moscow’s policies for the defense of Russia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security interests.”  

“The souls of the fallen will live forever with the great honor they defended,” he wrote at the Memorial, as reported by the official Kcna agency. Also on a mission to Pyongyang was the Speaker of the Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, who read a message from Vladimir Putin stating that the participation of North Korean military personnel in the Russian war effort is “undoubtedly a clear symbol of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.” 2,000 North Korean soldiers lost their lives on the front in Kursk.
