(Adnkronos) – Approximately 2,400 seafarers remain stranded on over 105 tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, an area closed to maritime traffic. Tim Wilkins, general manager of the tanker transporters’ trade association ‘Intertanko’, told the BBC. On board, Wilkins explained, there is “an enormous amount of anxiety, stress, and fatigue,” as crews must manage basic provisions, including food and water, and perform practical tasks such as waste removal.
“Many are stuck on board with no certainty as to when they can return home,” Wilkins stated.
