Tokyo, April 23 (Jiji Press)–Daito Trust Construction Co. is considering entering the accommodation-type postpartum care business by utilizing condominiums managed by its group, Jiji Press learned Thursday. Daito Trust will begin a trial in May, in collaboration with With Midwife Inc., which provides midwife dispatch services. The company will aim to start postpartum care services in a total of 100 condominium units in five buildings, mainly in Tokyo and surrounding areas, by 2030. About 10 pct of people who have given birth are said to suffer from postpartum depression. In Japan, the revised maternal health law was implemented in 2021, obliging municipalities to make efforts to provide postpartum care services. The revised law is encouraging private companies to enter the postpartum care business. Daito Trust will conduct a trial with infants younger than 6 months and their mothers in Tokyo condominium units with rooms for babies and guests. Parents can receive food and parenting guidance and rest by leaving their children with stationed midwives. Service fees start at 44,000 yen per day for one month. Midwives will support parents online after they leave the condominium units. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
