Sweden, schools closed in Borlänge due to threats of violence

22 Aprile 2026

(Adnkronos) – Swedish authorities have ordered the closure of 16 public schools in the city of Borlänge, in central Sweden, following a threat of violence. Private schools also chose to remain closed after being informed of the threat. “The decision is a precautionary measure due to a potential threat of violence against school activities,” the municipality of Borlänge stated in a press release.

The list includes the 16 municipal schools (from kindergarten to primary and secondary schools) that would remain closed for the day. Several private schools independently decided to close. “The police have opened a preliminary investigation against a group for serious threats. No one has been arrested, and it is too early to determine whether the threat is credible or not,” it was announced.
