(Adnkronos) – Todd Lyons, the acting director of Ice – the controversial Immigration and Customs Enforcement to which Donald Trump’s White House entrusted the task of implementing anti-immigration policies and mass deportations with very aggressive methods, which among other things caused the death of two Americans in Minnesota at the beginning of the year – has announced that he will leave his post at the end of May. In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Markawayne Mullin – who replaced Kristi Noem less than a month ago, Lyons specifies, as reported by the New York Times, that his desire is to “spend more time with family. With both children reaching a turning point in their lives, together with my wife we want to spend as much time as possible with them.” Lyons, with Ice since 2007, began working at the agency as an agent in Dallas.
