Trump, ‘NATO stay away from Hormuz, useless paper tiger’

17 Aprile 2026

(Adnkronos) – NATO is “a paper tiger”, it must “stay away” from the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump wrote this on his Truth social, stating that “the Strait of Hormuz is completely open and ready for transit, but the naval blockade will remain fully in force against Iran until the definitive conclusion of our agreements” with Tehran.

“Now that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz has been resolved, I received a call from NATO in which” the allies “asked me if we needed help. I told them to stay out of it, unless they just want to fill their ships with oil. They were useless in time of need: a paper tiger,” Trump said.
