Nikkei Retakes 58,000 in Morning

15 Aprile 2026

Tokyo, April 15 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average rose on Wednesday morning to retake 58,000 for the first time since March 2, reflecting overnight U.S. stock rises. At 9:52 a.m., the index of 225 selected issues listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s Prime section stood at 58,585.48, up 708.09 points, or 1.22 pct, from Tuesday’s closing. Buying spread across a wide range of issues from early Tokyo trading, following climbs in major U.S. stock indexes on Tuesday amid anticipation of further talks between the United States and Iran to end their ongoing armed conflict, market sources said. The U.S. SOX Philadelphia semiconductor index rewriting its record high also prompted investors in the Tokyo market to buy semiconductor-related issues. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
