108 Photos Illicitly Downloaded from Jiji Press Photo

Tokyo, April 15 (Jiji Press)–Jiji Press Photo Ltd., a subsidiary of Japanese news agency Jiji Press Ltd., has said that its website suffered unauthorized access and that 108 photographs were illicitly downloaded from its image database. The company reported the incident to Tokyo’s Metropolitan Police Department on Wednesday. The downloads were found after some 100,000 fraudulent attempts to log into the image database were detected on Tuesday afternoon. The downloaded photographs include 79 types of aerial photos and other images sold on commission from Jiji Press, the Hokkaido Shimbun Press and others. No personal information breaches have been detected. Jiji Press Photo said in a statement that it deeply apologizes to the providers of the photos and to users of the website.
