(Adnkronos) – Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, is working on a project to facilitate the transfer to Russia of South African white farmers who he claims are “persecuted” and to whom Moscow could grant refugee status. Visiting Russia these days, Errol Musk, 79, had previously stated that during apartheid in South Africa “there was no oppression.” Musk sr.’s initiative, which echoes the ongoing emigration of Afrikaners to the US since 2018, was cited by the governor of Russia’s Vladimir region.
“We discussed the development of agriculture and the prospects for the transfer of 50 families of Dutch origin from Southern Africa,” Aleksandr Avdeev had written in recent days, speaking of his meeting with Musk senior, who then attended Easter Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and briefly met President Vladimir Putin. The visit comes after Starlink, his son’s company, blocked Russians’ use of the network in Ukraine, significantly hindering Russia’s military effort. But Elon Musk, who also accused South Africa of not having authorized Starlink, despite being contradicted by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, has never hidden his poor relationship with his father. But Elon also accused the South African government of “racism.”
