Nikkei Gains More Than 1,400 Points in Morning

14 Aprile 2026

Tokyo, April 14 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average climbed over 1,400 points Tuesday morning, reflecting increased hopes for an easing in Middle East tensions. At 9:39 a.m., the index of 225 selected issues listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s Prime section stood at 57,917.76, up 1,414.99 points, or 2.50 pct, from Monday’s closing. Buying fueled by growing risk appetite took the upper hand from the outset of Tuesday’s trading, following overnight rises in major U.S. stock indexes triggered by U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that Iran wants a peace deal in the ongoing armed conflict between the two nations.
