(Adnkronos) – Italy has halted its cooperation with Israel on the exchange of military equipment and on tecnology research, according a letter from defence minister Guido Crosetto to his counterpart Israel Katz, Adnkronos learned from sources on Tuesday.
‘In light of the current situation, the Italian government has decided to suspend the renewal of the Italy-Israel memorandum,” reads Crosetto’s letter, according to the sources.
Crosetto’s move follows consultations with premier Giorgia Meloni and deputy premiers foreign minister Antonio Tajani and infrastructure and transport minister Roberto Salvini, the sources said.
The memorandum forms a framework for the exchange of equipment and research cooperation between Italy and Israel’s armed forces.
