(Adnkronos) – New Pantsir-S1 missile defense systems have been installed to protect Vladimir Putin’s Valdai residence. There are now 27 positions in total – 26 Pantsir-S1 and one S-400 – distributed in two different concentric circles, Radio Svoboda reported, citing satellite images. Work on the construction of seven more defense towers began on March 17. Pantsir-S1 systems are designed to repel attacks by aircraft, missiles, and drones. Last March, the protection of the Russian President’s Sochi residence was also strengthened, with the introduction of a ban on drone flights and navigation in an area of more than three square kilometers around the residence, and in Novo-Ogaryovo, on the outskirts of Moscow, already between 2023 and 2025. The first Pantsir defense system was installed to protect Putin’s Valdai residence – where, according to journalistic investigations, his partner Katerina Kabaeva and their three children live – in January 2023, followed by July 2024. Last year there was an acceleration: in August, 12 systems were installed, and in December, when a Ukrainian drone attack was reportedly repelled, there were 20.
