8 Aprile 2026

(Adnkronos) – New ballistic missile launches by North Korea today, Wednesday, April 8. According to South Korean authorities, Pyongyang launched one or more rockets towards the Sea of Japan, detected in the early hours of the day. According to Yonhap news agency, the launches began at 1:50 AM this morning (Italian time). It is North Korea’s fourth missile launch since the beginning of the year.

Seoul’s military reported several launches from the Wonsan area, on the east coast, with missiles that reportedly traveled about 240 km before falling into the sea. The Japanese Coast Guard announced that the last missile fell into the sea about 10 minutes after launch. Tokyo confirmed that no ordnance entered its territorial waters or exclusive economic zone.

No damage was reported, but the gesture was immediately defined as a provocation and a violation of UN resolutions, prompting the South Korean government to convene an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.

At the invitation of the North Korean Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi will be in North Korea tomorrow and Friday. This was announced by Beijing’s Foreign Ministry, as reported by the Global Times.
