(Adnkronos) – “I am at your service.” That’s what Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told Russian President Vladimir Putin last October during a discussion about a potential US-Russia summit on Ukraine, Bloomberg reveals, citing a transcript of the phone call, as reported by The Guardian. The conversation focused on plans to organize a peace summit, with the two also discussing the necessities for the meeting to take place, such as preparatory discussions with the Russian Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State.
During the call, Orban and Putin discussed their long-standing relationship, dating back to Orban’s first visit to St. Petersburg in 2009, and their admiration for US President Donald Trump. The Russian president reportedly described Hungary as one of the few, “perhaps the only” European country that could have been an acceptable venue for the meeting. The conversation concluded with Orban greeting in Russian.
