France, high-speed train collides with vehicle at level crossing, driver dead

(Adnkronos) – The driver of a TGV died in a collision between a train and a heavy vehicle at a level crossing between Béthune and Lens, in northern France. This was learned by AFP from the prefecture and the French railway company Sncf. According to a prefecture spokesperson, 27 people were injured in the accident. An Sncf spokesperson specified that the accident occurred around 7 a.m. The Minister of Transport, Philippe Tabarot, announced on X that he would go to the scene with Jean Castex, general director of Sncf.
