(Adnkronos) – The vast majority of Americans do not support a possible deployment of ground troops to Iran, with 62% declaring themselves against and 24% saying they are uncertain, while only 14% declare themselves in favor. This emerges from the Economist-You Gov poll, reported today by the Washington Post, which also cites the Ipsos and Ap-Norc survey according to which only one American supports the deployment of troops against four who are opposed.
It is also interesting to note that even among Republicans there is significant opposition to the military escalation of a conflict that Donald Trump promised would last only a few weeks. The most Trumpian base is lukewarm towards ground operations, with 40% of voters who identify as Maga supporting the hypothesis of sending troops, while 27% oppose it. But among non-Maga Republican voters, opposition to ground troops reaches 60%, with only 30-37% supporting it.
