New York University closes Abu Dhabi campus after Tehran threats

31 Marzo 2026

(Adnkronos) – New York University has closed its Abu Dhabi campus until further notice after Iran warned that American universities with branches in the Gulf are “legitimate targets” in retaliation for attacks on Iranian universities. The New York University student newspaper first reported this, explaining that Abu Dhabi campus administrators emailed the university community that, “out of an abundance of caution,” access to the campus would be denied to all students, faculty, and staff.

In early March, New York University Abu Dhabi had moved classes online after Iranian missiles hit the area. The campus had remained open and continued to offer essential services. Classes will continue remotely.
