Mexico denounces, ’13 of our citizens dead during Ice arrest or detention’

25 Marzo 2026

(Adnkronos) – The Mexican government denounces that 13 of its citizens have died in the last year in the United States during anti-immigrant raids or detention by Ice. During a press conference today at the Mexican Foreign Ministry, it was highlighted how these deaths occurred in the context of President Donald Trump’s strategy for a campaign of detention and deportation of undocumented immigrants.

The new data on Mexican citizens who died during this campaign comes after Mexico City last week called the death of a 19-year-old Mexican immigrant in a Florida detention center “unacceptable.” US authorities reported that “it is presumed to have been a suicide,” but Mexico has requested “a thorough investigation” into this and other deaths.
