Japan, Malaysia Leaders Affirm Cooperation over Middle East Woes

Tokyo, March 24 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and her Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, agreed Tuesday to cooperate to ease tensions in the Middle East. During their 15-minute phone conversation, Takaichi emphasized the need to work with the international community to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has effectively closed. Malaysia, a predominantly Muslim nation with deep ties to Middle Eastern countries, has denounced U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran.
