UK, 2 Iranian spies arrested while trying to enter Faslane base

(Adnkronos) – Two alleged ”Iranian spies” have been arrested while attempting to enter the Faslane naval base in Scotland, home to the Royal Navy where British nuclear submarines are stationed. The Daily Mail reports this, citing a spokesperson for the Scottish police. The suspects are a 34-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both Iranian, who approached a gate of the British naval base in Clyde, Scotland, in a vehicle. 

The two did not have the necessary permits to enter and were stopped for “suspicious behavior”. Police explained that ”an investigation is underway and no further comments will be released”. The base, located 40 kilometers northwest of Glasgow, hosts British nuclear submarines, including the Vanguard units armed with Trident missiles.
