Russia, Central Bank lowers interest rates to 15%

20 Marzo 2026

(Adnkronos) – The Russian Central Bank has lowered interest rates from 15.5 percent to 15 percent, citing the downward trend in inflation, while acknowledging the growing uncertainty for the economy and for inflation itself caused by the war in the Middle East. Price growth decelerated last month, thanks to the entry into force of tax increases, after the new inflation increase in January. As of March 16, annual inflation was at 5.9 percent, a figure that the Central Bank anticipates will be 4.5/5.5 percent by year-end and 4 percent next year. Today’s reduction is the second this year, the seventh since the cuts began after the peak of 21 percent in September 2024.
