(Adnkronos) – The United Nations World Food Programme is keeping up crucial aid to the neediest of over a million people left homeless in Lebanon during the Eid-al Fitr holiday by Israel’s escalating strikes against Hezbollah in retaliation for attacks by the pro-Iran militant group launched in early March.
“This Eid looks different for families across #Lebanon,” WFP’s regional office wrote Thursday on X.
“Displacement has left hundreds of thousands without a safe place to celebrate. @WFP with partners, remains on the ground – delivering assistance where it’s needed most,” the the post continued.
This year, Eid, which marks the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, begins on Friday.
