UN, 36,000 displaced in West Bank in one year, never so many

17 Marzo 2026

(Adnkronos) – Over 36,000 Palestinians have been displaced in the West Bank in one year, an “unprecedented” number. The United Nations human rights office stated this in a document, expressing concern about the risk of “ethnic cleansing” and calling on Israel to immediately stop the expansion of settlements.

“The displacement of over 36,000 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank (over 12 months) represented a mass expulsion of Palestinians on an unprecedented scale” and “appears to indicate a concerted Israeli policy of forced mass transfers throughout the occupied territory, aimed at permanent displacement, raising concerns of ethnic cleansing,” the report states.
